our story

Bloom is an event space and day time restaurant offering high quality coffee, alcohol & creative food cooked over fire. We are situated in an old tram barn, located by the River Torrens in the inner city suburb of Thebarton.

Our space is sophisticated yet relaxed with a strong focus on customer service and community. We opened our doors in the spring of 2020 after working on the design and construction for close on three years. What started out as a simple cafe idea, quickly grew into the more sophisticated restaurant you now see & experience today. The creation from a group of friends with vast backgrounds from farmers to town planners & lawyers to builders, the influences were many but the common ethos was the same. An ethos aimed to excite, to do things to the best of our abilities, to bring joy to our customers. With everything that we do and offer, we strive to create an experience.

Our food is sourced from local farmers and suppliers, including seasonal ingredients from our head chef’s farm, Sam Smith, in Montacute. Fire is our choice of cooking, simple but oh so good. We like to enjoy our food in the company of friends and family and our all day breakfast & lunch menu reflects this with a combination of smaller and larger shared style dishes.

Coffee is at the heart of what we offer. Those 5am wake-ups and late night functions. We’re proud to be pouring 1645 Coffee Roasters, a small family run operation located in Glynde, South Australia. Our relationship spans 10 years across multiple venues but quality and consistency has always been at the heart of what we have achieved together. Enjoyed in our venue with a house made cake, breakfast, the end to a long lunch or taking away.

Being hospitable & pouring good booze has always felt natural to us as we incorporate alcohol into our breakfast, lunch and functions offerings. We’ve worked hard to build partnerships with some great South Australian business & heroing our local wine regions. Owners Jack & Darcy have furthered their commitment to this, recently taking over management of a small vineyard just out of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills to explore their passion for cold climate wines & reflecting this through Bloom’s menu.
